We use words to simplify our perception of the world. For instance, we categorize the continuous spectrum of light with words like "blue" and "red," ignoring the subtle variations within each. Words thus organizes complex information, making the world understandable. Consequently, learning a new word can change our perception, allowing us to recognize distinctions we previously overlooked, or to disregard differences we once considered significant.
This participatory exhibit centers on the color "blue." It invites visitors to share their own words for colors that are almost blue, and to define the range of shades they consider to be "definitively blue." The goal is to offer a firsthand experience of the subtle differences in how we perceive the world based on the words we use.
